MOUNDS VIEW -- June V. Mapes, age 66 of Mounds View, formerly of Pequot Lakes, died peacefully Jan. 25, 2004, at Hennepin County Medical Center from pancreatic cancer.
She was born to Louis and Vernie Kottschade on May 28, 1937, in Pequot Lakes, Minn. She lived in that area until she married Dean K. Mapes. They were married 47 years and have four children. They resided most of their time together in Mounds View, Minn.
Survived by husband, Dean; sons, Ken "Bo" (Gayle), Steven (Libby); daughters, Beth and Verna; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers and sisters, Sarah Wermter, Harvey Kottschade, Cecil Kottschade, Myron Kottschade (Carroll), Robert Kottschade, Doris Campbell (Jerry), Donna Rivard (Mark), Nora Jabas (David), Milton Kottschade; one aunt; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Louis and Vernie Kottschade; and sisters, Leona Kottschade and Grace Decamp; brother, Basil Kottschade.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 1 p.m., Pleasant Hills Community Church, Pequot Lakes. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church and Wednesday at 4 p.m. ending with prayer services at 7 p.m. at Washburn-McReavy, Seman Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd.
