Fred W. Helm, 83, of Cross Plains, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, in Fort Worth.
Funeral at 2 p.m. today (Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007) at the Acton Baptist Church. Burial in Acton Cemetery. Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wiley Funeral Home.
Memorials: Cross Plains Fire Department and EMS.
Mr. Helm was born May 23, 1924, in Wingate to Brad and Elizabeth Ann Cox Helm. He married Doylene Brannon in 1944 in Wingate. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Helm was a resident of Acton for 49 years. He served as a deacon at Acton Baptist Church and worked as a furniture refinisher and a machinist for Waples Machine Shop for 14 years.
He moved to Cross Plains two years ago and was currently a member of First Baptist Church of Cross Plains.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brothers and sisters, and a son, Fred Wayne Helm in 1966.
Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Doylene Helm of Cross Plains; daughters, Quada Bien and husband, Sammy, of Cross Plains, Mary Ann Dyer of Garner; grandchildren, Karri Shepard, Jason Bien, Sean Dyer, Brandon Dyer; great grandchildren, Jacy Bien, Sara Bien, Jackilann Shepard, Madilynn Shepard, Abbigale Shepard; and a sister, Winnie Hatley of Wingate.
