Herb was my Grandmother's second husband. My Grandfather (Eugene) had died while all of us grandchildren were all fairly young. Herb was uncomfortable at first being called "Grandpa" but after a while grew to enjoy it.
Herb served his country during World War II. He was in the 101st Airborne. He was in a glider unit and also served as a medic in Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge.
