Bob Gabler, 77, died Saturday, March 6, 2004 at Mercy Medical Center. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, March 12 at Southtown Funeral Home, with burial in Glendale Cemetery.

Bob was born August 7, 1926 in Topeka, KS, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korea era. He was a teacher in the Des Moines schools, retiring in 1988. Bob was a member of the Park Ave. Presbyterian Church, the Des Moines Area Retired Teacher's Association and past president of the Southside Kiwanis. He enjoyed bowling and was a volunteer at the Historical Building, a tutor at elementary schools and a bell ringer at his church.

Bob is survived by his sons, Dennis (Deborah) of Adel and Jeffrey (Karol) of Niwot, CO; his five grandchildren, Miranda, Jason and Elizabeth, all of the Des Moines area and Mitchell and Cassandra of Niwot, CO; and his great-granddaughter, Madisynn. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois.

Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Park Ave. Presbyterian Church.
