from Rose L. Collins June 2, 2002:
"Of course, I remember Grandma Elizabeth Bennett Baccus since I was almost nine when she died. She was Dad's favorite grandmother. Elizabeth's last child was only a few months older than Dad and they were just like brother and sister. I remember the two daughters who lived in this area, but I do not remember Alice who lived and died in California. She was almost 96 and her younger sister, Mary Jane (she preferred Marie), died a few months later and she was 93. Dad would have been 92 if he had lived just one more month when he died in 1990. I also remember Elizabeth's son, Benjamin, quite well and his two sons. Neither of the sons had any children so that is the end of the Baccus line on our side. Dad always said that Robert Jesse could drink anyone "under the table" and often did. According to Dad Robert Jesse left Elizabeth when Margaret (the youngest child) was just a child. It seems Robert and another man preferred a widow down the street from where they use to live on Theo Street in San Antonio. As far as I know the house in which they lived, and grandma Elizabeth died, is still standing on the same spot. I won't tell you what Dad called the woman, but I am sure you can guess. I know some of the "skeletons in the closet" on this side of the family but I guess I will just leave them in the closet."

John Porter, Harrison, AR shows date of birth, Jun 20, 1850, slightly earlier than 1880 census, and date of death, Jan 20, 1937, at least 9 years later than Daniel Watts.
