Doris Elaine Henry, 84, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City.

She was born May 6, 1924, in Macksville, to Chester C. and Ruby Pearl Barker Haynes.

A resident of Garden City since 1957, moving from Great Bend, Mrs. Henry was a school cook and a homemaker. She was a member of First Assembly Of God Church in Garden City, Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Senior Center of Finney County and AARP.

On May 24, 1941, she married Ervin Earl Henry in Macksville. He died April 23, 2003. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Hager; and a brother, Bill Haynes.

Graveside service was at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Garden City.
