Virginia was the last of five children born to Edna Kent and Bud Fitch. She married Ivan Joyce about 1943 when he was stationed at Rantoul Army Air Base and they had three children. Ivan remained in the Air Force after the war and they retired from Nellis AFB in 1964, living the rest of their lives in the Las Vegas area.
