Amanda Jane was the daughter of William Freeman and Jane Candace Ferguson who married 25 February 1855 in Harrison County, Texas. Amanda had two surviving brothers, and a surviving sister who were raised for years by their mother when William enlisted in the CSA in 1862 and never returned. Her mother was living alone in Van Zandt County, TX with the three children in the Census of 1870. In 1871 she married her first cousin Justice D. 'Jess' Ferguson. The family moved to Parker County, near Springtown in the early 1870's. Amanda married William Boone in Fort Worth. He had been the first teacher in the Bedford College in Tarrant County. They moved to Weatherford where they remained except for a short period in Waco, until their deaths. Amanda and William raised six children in Weatherford.
