Second Lieutenant Deverell served with the
420th Base Unit at March Field, Riverside,
California.

He was one of six Army airmen who were
killed when B-24J Liberator #44-28208 crashed
shortly after takeoff, due to engine failure.

The other Army aviators were:

1st Lt. Joseph E Bowman, Jr , Instructor
2nd Lt. Anthony G Galioto
SSgt. Harold Bentley
Cpl. James E Bertrand
