Albert LaVern Schaaf, age 88, of Mineral Point, passed away on Monday, Aug. 4, 2008, at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville, after a short illness. He was born in Mineral Point on Sept. 27, 1919, the son of Albert and Mame (Lawinger) Schaaf. He graduated from Mineral Point High School. He married Anna Mae Berg on Sept. 21, 1944, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mineral Point. He was a lifelong farmer on the family farm in Mineral Point. He was a member of St. Mary's-St. Paul's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than 60 years. He is survived by his wife, Anna Mae; six sons, Ken of Mineral Point, Wayne (Chris) of Kewanee, Ill., Bill (Deb) of Geneseo, Ill., Norb (Cindy) and Eugene (Deb), both of Mineral Point, and Bert (Libby) of Menasha; 16 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, Bernie Kieffer and Michael Berg. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at ST. MARY'S-ST. PAUL'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Mineral Point. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME, Mineral Point. A Knights of Columbus rosary service will be held Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
