Minerva S. Snyder was born on Dec. 18, 1832 near Jellico, Whitley Co., Kentucky. She was the daughter of William "Will" Snyder (1808-1889) and Jemima Faulkner (1817-1850), the first born of their eleven known children.

Minerva's father, Will, was born in Knox Co. Kentucky. His parents are currently uncertain.

Minerva's mother, Jemima, was born in Whitley Co., KY. She was the daughter of James P. Faulkner (1762-1850) and Mary Mitchell (1765-1885). Jemima was just 15 when she married Minerva's father and not yet 16 when Minerva was born.

On Aug. 11, 1853, Minerva married Sterling C. Douglas (1824-1899). Sterling was 28, Minerva 20. He was the son of Matthew Douglas (179101845) and Nancy Ann King (1792-1861). Both of Sterling's parents were born in Washington Co., Territory South of the Ohio River (now Tennessee) and both died near Lot, Whitley Co., KY. They are buried in the Douglas Cemetery located in Wooldridge, Campbell Co., TN.

Minerva were married for 26 years and had 6 known children. They are listed in his memorial.

Minerva died on Nov. 20, 1879 in Campbell County at the age of 46. She is buried in the Douglas Cemetery #1 in Wooldridge. Her husband, Sterling, who did not remarry, died on Dec. 11, 1899, also in Campbell County, at the age of 74. He too, is buried in the Douglas Cemetery, next to his wife, Minerva.
