John James Felice Marian Asbury Felice

June 27, 1908 – July 26, 2003 August 25, 1915 – March 26, 2005

On June 27, 1908, John Felice was born in Seattle, the son of Italian immigrant parents. His father was a cobbler in Pioneer Square until he died in the flu epidemic of 1918. On the weekends as a young boy, he helped his uncles of the Rainier Valley get their produce to Pike Place Market. At the age of 14, John's 60 year optical career began.

Marian Asbury was the youngest of seven children born August 25, 1915, in Brewster. An orchard family, she would help set the pumps in the Columbia River and laughingly tell stories about riding atop the sprayer as her Dad sprayed lead arsenic.

(Hmmm! How did she ever make it to 89?!) Graduating in 1933, she attended college in Bellingham to become a teacher until a severe case of homesickness took her back to Wenatchee where she met John. On December 7, 1940, John Felice married Marian Asbury. This marriage lasted for 62 years.

John's work took the family from Wenatchee to Seattle, Yakima, Sacramento, California, Olympia, St. Petersburg, Florida, Spokane, until full circle back to Wenatchee. From 1964 to 1980, John worked at the Eye and Ear Clinic in the optical department until his retirement. Dad had many years to enjoy his gardening and golfing. He took credit for introducing his grandsons, John and Scott, to the wonderful world of golf.

Marian worked for the State of California and the State of Washington as a receptionist and secretary. In 1977, she retired from the Department of Social and Health Services. Mom's family was her life – so proud of her children and grandchildren!

She loved to knit as well as take care of Dad's prolific garden produce.

Today Marian and John are survived by a son, John and wife Judy of Liberty Lake; a daughter, Nancy George and husband Harley of East Wenatchee; grandchildren, Melanie and Steve Harman and their children Ryan and Katlyn of Spokane, John Felice of Tri-cities and his son Zack, Patricia and Rob Guthrie and their children Parker and Madison of Renton, Nicole' and John Dobmeier and baby son Isaac of Whidbey Island, and Scott George of Phoenix, Arizona. Arrangments by Telford's Chapel of the Valley, East Wenatchee.

Mom and Dad, Grandma and Grandpa, we miss you deeply.

But your unconditional love for us all is a constant reminder of how to be good parents and grandparents. Thank you for your love and love's lessons. Hopefully we will all continue to make you proud. We know you are happy to be together again with God's eternal life. "Salute!"
