Mrs. Russell was born on March 28, 1912 and passed away at the Landmark Nursing Home on April 28, 2008. She loved spending time with her family and also enjoyed fishing and gardening. Mrs. Russell is preceded in death by her first husband, James Vestal Purdy, by her second husband, John Walker Russell and by her son, James Vestal Purdy, Jr.
Survivors include her daughters, Teresa Purdy Bush and Dorothy Purdy Dupree; step-children, Bobby Russell, Elaine Ables, Loraine Otwell, Grace Barnes, Gladies Spurlock and Herece McMullen; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and sister, Marie Weems Medak.
Pallbearers will be Andy Bush, Brian Simmons, Phil Ables, Vestal Purdy, Eddie Farr, Lance Otwell, Jonathan Wilder and John Wilder.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe La.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Calhoun Assembly of God Church in Mrs. Russell's Honor.
