She passed away April 29, 1980 in Claremore, Oklahoma

Adoption:1899- White Rock, Noble, Oklahoma
Mamie and her brother Clarence were adopted out to John Samuel Wise and his wife Hattie Wise. Details unclear.
Her mother Eva Kate (Jones) Smith provided a deposition on April 30, 1910 attesting to the reasons and why she gave her children up for adoption to John Wise. Mamie and her brother were minors when John Wise died. Mamie's biological father, John Jacob Smith sued the estate on behalf of Mamie and her brother Clarence for a better inheritance. (John Wise left them only $10 each. John Smith claims that John Wise promised them his entire inheritance and that Hattie Wise manipulated her husband to sign a Will he did not understand. A messy lawsuit. The courts did not believe that John Wise was manipulated. Leading one to wonder if there was bad blood between hi and Mamie and Clarence.

Bio needs changed to reflect that Mamie and brother Clarence were definitely adopted by John Samuel Wise and his wife Hattie A. on 17 June 1899.
