LAUDELINA "Lala" FIGUEROA, 86, passed away at 4:18 AM, Monday, July 28, 2008, in Orlando, Orange County, FL.
Mrs. Figueroa was born September 16, 1921, in Arroyo Arenas, Marianao, Cuba.
As a parent, due to political reasons, she made the ultimate sacrifice and allowed her only daughter to come alone to America. After three years, along with her husband, they were reunited. Lala, as she was known to her friends, lived a full and healthy life. She loved her "Figueroa" eternally and was able to see her dreams become reality through her grandson, John and great-granddaughter, Kayla.
Mrs. Figueroa retired from Florida Hospital and, even after many years, kept in contact with many of her associates. She was devoted to her patron saint, St. Lazaro. She loved to crochet and was a great cook. Her daughter says that black beans will never be the same again and that she knows her Mother is playing dominoes in Heaven.
She is survived by her daughter, Mercedes F. McCall; grandson and his wife, John Raymond and Amy Dalton Montenegro; great-granddaughter, Kayla Marie Montenegro all of Orlando, FL; nieces, Caridad Quijano and Beatriz Gutierrez also of Orlando, FL. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews in Cuba and extended family members throughout the USA.
A gathering for family and friends was held Tuesday, July 29th, from 4-9PM at the Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. Funeral Services were held, Wednesday, July 30th, at 10AM at the funeral home. Private Interment was follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
