Jay was very passionate about his work as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and his children and grandchildren were the light of his life. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. His hobbies included music, dancing, knife collections, NASCAR, rodeos and rock polishing.
Jay fought a courageous battle with cancer and lived 4 1/2 years cancer free. Tragically, his life was cut short due to injuries sustained in a heavy equipment accident.
Jay's memory will always live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He is survived by his children, Jason VanBrunt, Jeanette Lynn Bush, Jay Dee Peterson II, Jerod Peterson, Julie King and Josh Nichols; and his 15 beloved grandchildren, Cameron, Tyler, Bo, Dalton, Tyler, Brianna, Lincoln, Jocelyn, Elijah, Tristan, Cassie, Cadence, Destinie, Trindie and Taeitum.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Evergreen Cemetery, 2834 N. Spokane Street, Post Falls. Memorial will be held directly following at the Post Falls Eagles Club, located at 209 E. Railroad Avenue, Post Falls. For more information call (208) 704-7701.
