Hunt was actually her middle name. Her maiden name was Allen.
Her parents were Samuel Clesson Allen 7480719 and Mary (Hunt) Allen 63706922
1) Maiden name --- New Salem, Mass Vital Records - Marriages: "Martha H Allen of Northfield and David A Gregg, Esq, at Northfield, Oct 22,1817"

2) Parentage ---- Her father, Samuel Clesson Allen, was a U.S.Congressman, and he was a minister at Northfield,MA from 1795 to 1798 after which he moved his family to New Salem. Rootsweb carries biographies of famous people..... his is here: http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~mabiog/Franklin_Country/allensamuelc.htm. It lists his children by each of his wives (from Northfield,MA Vital Records) which include Martha Hunt Allen, born the exact same date as listed in her memorial and on her stone (Apr 28,1798 at Northfield). (Samuel Clesson Allen is buried in Bernardston,MA, a neighboring town of Northfield.)
