Mary Elizabeth Bailey

Funeral Mass for Mary Elizabeth Bailey, 88, of Billings, formerly of Miles City and Rosebud Creek, was held Monday morning, Nov. 1, 1999, in St. Pius X Church at Billings. Interment followed Monday afternoon in the Lee Cemetery on Rosebud Creek.

Mrs. Bailey died Wednesday, October 27, 1999, in the Deaconess Medical Center at Billings.

Born August 24, 1911, in Miles City, she was the daughter of James W. and Anna Elgin Nugent. She grew up and attended schools in Miles City, graduating from Custer County High School in 1929. She attended nurses training in the Holy Rosary Hospital at Miles City.

On Dec. 31, 1931, she and James N. Bailey were married in Miles City. They ranched on Rosebud Creek between Lame Deer and Colstrip until 1998 when they moved to Billings.

Mrs. Bailey was a member of the St. Margaret Mary's Catholic Church in Colstrip and served on the Rosebud County Hospital Board in the 1960s.

Her survivors include her husband of Billings; two sons, Dr. James H. Bailey, and his wife, Sharon, of Great Falls, and Don Bailey and his wife, Connie, of Rosebud Creek; her daughter, Mary Ann Lammers, and her husband, Duane of Corvallis, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her nine brothers and sisters.

Beals Mortuary of Forsyth was in charge of arrangements.
