7/1/1937 Miami (OK) News Record Obituary – Mrs. Arena Marlett - Mrs. Arne Marlett, 92 years old, died early today at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. M.C. Rakes, 12 miles east of Miami. She had been a resident of this vicinity for 37 years. Surviving are one son, J.B. Marlett of Seneca, five grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the home of the granddaughter. The reverend Holt will officiate. Burial will be in Lowell Cemetery under direction of the Lane Funeral Home.

Additional Notes: Arena born April 23, 1845 Vermillion County IL to Barton Snider and Elizabeth Bailey. Known Siblings: John (Harriet Dunlap) Snider, Rebecca (Enoch Chord Stone) Snider, Alem Snider, William Snider, David Snider. Married Benjamin Franklin Marlett December 12 1861 per Linn County KS Book 1 Page 238 6th Judicial District. Marriage witnessed by Father "Bartin" Snider and brother John Snider.

Additional Notes: Per Lowell Cemetery Register, Arena is buried in Section A Lot 54 N1/2. Per my visit to Lowell Cemetery, Arena's grave is unmarked, as is her husband's grave, Benj. Franklin Marlett who died or buried Feb 21, 1902. The unmarked graves are next to their daughter Mary Lydia Marlett's marked gravestone who died June 5, 1931 who is also noted by the Lowell Cemetery Register as being buried in Section A Lot 54. Other family unmarked graves in this section include "Lou" Rakes..Anita Louise Rakes May 11/1932 – Nov 28 1932 daughter of Roy E. Rakes and Beulauh Hawkins Rakes and "Baby" Rakes (register notes death 1907).
