Doris Crystal, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jordan Ewing, was born near Unionville, Mo., March 14, 1915, departed this life at the Grim-Smith hospital in Kirksville, Mo., at 12 o'clock midnight, Tuesday, July 25, 1939, at the age of 24 years, 4 months and 11 days.
She was united in marriage with Bernard Abbott December 8, 1934, to this union three sons were born, Donald Webster, Charles Edward, and the infant Doris Ewing, who was only a few hours old when his mother passed away.
A sister, Velma Elizabeth, preceded her in death Aug. 15, 1913. She is survived by her parents, husband, three sons, four sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Leslie Morris, Unionville, Mo., Mrs. Harry Scalf, Lucerne, Mo., Mrs. Everett Noland, Lemons, Mo., Mrs. Dade Drury, Savage, Mont., James, Carl and Roy all of Unionville, MO., and a number of other relatives and a host of friends.
Crystal was a loving daughter and sister, a devoted wife and mother. She numbered her friends by her acquaintances and was loved and respected by all who knew her.
The funeral was held at 2 o'clock Friday, July 28 at the home of her parents, conducted by Rev. Geo. W. Swan, Jr., after which the body was laid to rest in the Shipley cemetery.
The pallbearers were Leslie Morris, Harry Scalf, Everett Noland, Bun Mullins, Roy Lewis and Raymond Abbott. The flower girls were Wilma May Lewis, Mary and Leta Fay Mullins.
