Loretta McWherter Clark, longtime resident of Freedom, WY died at her home on March
18, 1990.
Funeral services were held in Freedom. Burial was in the Freedom Cemetery.
Loretta Clark was born on Aug 26, 1911 in St. Anthony, ID to John and Leda Cox
McWherter. Her family of 13 brothers and sisters lived there until she was 14 years
old when they then moved to Blackfoot ID. She did housekeeping for families.
She met her future husband Arthur, who was from Freedom and was working for his
uncle for the summer in Blackfoot.
After dating for two months, Arthur baptized her a member of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints. On Oct 14, 1928 they were married in Blackfoot ID.
The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple on Mar 27, 1931. Arthur died
on Jan 25, 1983.
After they were married they moved to Freedom where she made her home for the rest
of her life. They had three children.
She was an excellent cook and homemaker. For several years she and her husband were
custodians of the Metcalf School in Etna. They had some hard times with opera5tions
and failures in investments, but she said she always remembered her mother saying,
"It isn't the house that makes a home, it is the people who live in it." She always
made the best of whatever house they lived in.
She was ward librarian for 15 years. She also used her artistic talents to decorate
fair booths and tables for ward parties, as well as the many things she made for her
home.
One of the highlights of her life was when she and Arthur spent a month in Hawaii
with their son, Zane, and family when he lived there in 1967.

(Ileen) ID; one son Zane Clark, Clovis, CA; 11 grandchildren and 14 great
