Gordon Dean "Jim" Thayer, 78, of Dayton, passed away Thursday, November 13, 2003 at home after an extended illness. He was born October 31, 1925 in Altoona, Kansas to parents Claude and Eunice Thayer. He spent his younger years in Neodesha, Kansas and starting working for Standard Oil of Kansas. He served during World War II and returned to work in the petroleum industry as an accountant. Memorial Service for Mr. Thayer will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 22, 2003 at The First Baptist Church in Dayton. He is survived by his wife Dianne Carney Thayer of Dayton and one son, Bret Thayer and wife Kathy of Utah. He is also survived by one sister Imogene Daniel. The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Oddsey Hospice , 1600 James Bowie Drive, Suite C101, Baytown, Texas 77520 or Dayton Historical Society, 607 South Main, Dayton, Texas 77535
