Gerald was born June 19, 1926 in Deerfield to the late Hoel and Cora Chapman.
He joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and was honorably discharged after 3 years of loyal service to his country.
He went on to join the Carpenters Union and eventually retired after many years of dedication to his trade.
Gerald enjoyed spending time up north in Wolverine and two tracking in the woods for hours. He was also a member of Deerfield Church of Christ.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Chapman; beloved father of Cindy (Mike) Worrell of Columbiaville and the late Ren and Kirk Chapman; beloved grandfather of Jayme (Mark), Hollie (R.J.), Shan, Tina (Shane), Scott (Kadie), Kirk (Jenny), Michael (Becky); beloved step-father of Joe (Barb) Butterfield, Nancy Butterworth, Mary Ann (Jim) Nutt; also survived by 15 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and loving friends.
