VALE – Morris Abernathy, 71, of 397 Cooper Road, died Nov. 1, 2004. Funeral services are 3:30 p.m. Thursday at Hulls Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the residence of the deceased.

A native of Lincoln County, he worked as a fixer. Morris was the son of the late Stanley Morris Abernathy and Maude Canipe Abernathy.

Survivors include wife Emmie M. Abernathy; three sons, Allen Dale Abernathy, Gary Abernathy and John Davide Abernathy, all of Vale; one daughter, Connie A. Hoyle of Shelby; two brothers, Stanley Abernathy of Shelby and James Abernathy of Newton; two sisters, Margie Allman of Cherryville and Clara Belle Carston of Kankekee, Ill.; 11 great-grandchildren and three grandchildren.
