A BIOGRAPHY OF ALBERT WADE SHRIVER, by Laurence Overmire (great nephew), genealogist and Shriver family historian, updated June 2020:
Albert Wade Shriver was born August 10, 1878, probably in Ashland County, Ohio, the eldest son of Albert Norton and Mary Belle (Burns) Shriver. Wade's brothers and sisters were all very creative and talented. An old family photograph reveals Wade played the violin.
He married Pearl Estel Shissler on November 20, 1902. They had 5 children: Albert Townsend, Florence Irene, Harold David, Mary Elizabeth, and Robert Charles.
Wade took over the running of the old Burns farm until 1912 when he moved to Ashland and went into business with his brother William Burns Shriver manufacturing and selling steel fence posts and fence anchors. When the supply of steel diminished in World War I, Wade and Will operated a "Nash" automobile agency and garage. This business ended about 1922. Wade then went into the music store business with his brother-in-law Cliff Vanostrand in Ashland. A few years later this business also ended and Wade became a real estate broker, again with brother William, a profession which continued for the remainder of his life.
Wade died Oct. 23, 1957, at the age of 79 and was buried in Ashland Cemetery.
