A BIOGRAPHY OF DAVID MCKIBBEN BURNS, by Laurence Overmire (great nephew), genealogist and family historian, updated June 2020:
The only surviving son of William Burns and Elizabeth Jane McKibben, David McKibben Burns was born March 14, 1854 in Savannah, Ashland Co., Ohio. He was named after his grandfather, David Burns, as well as his mother's McKibben family. He was a farmer and wool buyer.
At the age of 57, he married 39-year-old Lillian Troxel, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Markel) Troxel, on Oct. 1, 1911, in Monroe, Monroe County, Michigan. They had no children.
David died in Ashland, Ohio, on April 2, 1911, at the age of 71.
