BRUCE - Evelyn Hayles Poteete, 91, died Monday, July 28, 2008, at the Bruce Community Living Center in Bruce. She was born Oct. 8, 1917, in the Springdale community. She was a homemaker and an Avon sales representative. She was a member of Poplar Spring Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with the Rev. Robert Earl Alexander and the Rev. W.R. Harrelson officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery at Water Valley.
Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Brown of Bruce, Janie Burfield of Senatobia and Patrecia Browning of Paris; two sons, Ronald Poteete of Bruce and Gary Poteete of Coffeeville; 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland Verdo Poteete; her parents, James Carter Hayles and Lillie Mae Jenkins Hayles; two sons, Kenneth Dale Poteete and James Michael Poteete; a daughter, Gloria Poteete Perkins; and a grandson, Jason Burfield.
Pallbearers will be Tony Poteete, Robbie Poteete, Steve Brown, Kevin Browning, Marshall Browning, Aaron Burfield, Brian Poteete, Joey Poteete and Brandon Poteete.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
