Catherine M. Haffner, age 92, of Prairie City, Ill., passed away at 10:35 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008, at the Care Center of Abingdon.
She was born Aug. 1, 1915, in Walnut Grove, Ill., to James F. and Goldie M. Crosier Coombs. She married Floyd Haffner on Dec. 31, 1937, in Bushnell, Ill. He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1972.
Catherine is survived by three sons, Frank (Sharon) Haffner of Abingdon, Ill., Raymond L. (Kay) Haffner of Mackinaw, Ill., and Gerald (Sharon) Haffner of Canton, Ill.; along with one daughter, Darlene (Eugene) Hoffman of White Heath, Ill. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, along with one stepbrother, Ray Etter of Bushnell, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Catherine was a member of the Walnut Grove Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 31, 2008, at the Walnut Grove Methodist Church. Pastor Diane Duncan will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell, Ill., where friends may call after 2 p.m. Burial will be in the Point Pleasant Cemetery near Marietta, Ill.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Walnut Grove Methodist Church or to the donor's choice.
