Cullman Tribune - 6 Dec 1902

Sad indeed were the hearts of our people on Thursday evening, the 27th inst, as the sad news was carried from house to house that little Gerdie Adams had been very seriously burned by having her clothes burned off her. Friends and neighbors gathered at once and did all in their power to relieve the little one. Dr Baird was summoned and arrived as soon as possible, but all earthly efforts were of no avail. The angel of death came about 3 o'clock Friday morning and wafted the little soul away to that land where sorrows never come.

Little Gerdie was about three years and eleven months old, and the only daughter of Mr and Mrs W M Adams. She was a bright little girl and idol of the family. She was laid to rest at Missionary Grove on Saturday, the 29th. Funeral services were conducted by Rev H D Rainwater. The bereaved parents and two little brothers, who are so sadly mourning have the sincere sympathy of the entire community.

The father saw fit to call the little one so that bright and better shore where all who do his will may live and praise his name forevermore.
