The son of John James Maguire and Mary Ann Maguire, he was born March 30, 1917, at Chester England.
He was raised in Shrewsbury, England and later served in the Royal Air Force as a combat pilot from 1939 to 1947.
In 1947 he came to the United States and toured the country on a motorcycle until settling in Asotin.
He married Enda Mary (Phillip Wills) in 1952, and the couple made their home at Clarkston. They were later divorced.
He worked for a time at Hodgson Ford Tractor, Henderson Motors, Idaho Truck Sales and Idaho Cleet Track, all at Lewiston.
In 1961 he became a salesman for Standard Insurance at Clarkston and was awarded the president cup, one of the companies top awards in 1976.
He was elected president of the Lewis-Clark Opportunity School Association at North Lewiston in 1964, and also served as president of the valley's Life Insurance Underwriters.
He married Anna Maria Aguilar June 14, 1973, at Clarkston.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge at Lewiston and the Moose Lodge at Clarkston and was a volunteer for the valley's RSVP program. He was named volunteer of the year in 1986 for his work with the Senior Health Insurance Benefits Advisors (SHIBA) program.
Survivors include his wife at Clarkston, a son, John A. Maguire, and a daughter, Ann Marie Daniel, both of Clarkston; two sisters Margaret Davies and Mary Farren bothe in England; a brother, Francis J. Maguire of San Jose, Calif; four stepsons, David Bobenhouse of Tacoma, Eric Carr in Tennessee, Fernando Aguilar of Walla Walla, and Ernest Aguilar of Clarkston; five stepdaughters, Dianna Bobenhouse and Marie Eggart, both of Clarkston, Alma Aguilar of Seattle, Alvie Acheson of Hermiston, Ore., and Angie Baldwin of Forst City, Ark; 27 grandchildren and a great granddaughter.
A sister, a brother and a stepdaughter died previously.
