Ora Mae (Pete) Hollenbeck, 81, of Lewiston, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2003, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Pete was born July 13, 1922, to George and Helen Taplin Peterson in Lewiston. She was raised in Asotin and graduated from Asotin High School in 1940,

where she was a five-year letterwoman in basketball.

On March 14, 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, Charlie A. Hollenbeck in Lewiston. While Charlie was gone to war for almost five years, she worked various jobs throughout the area. After his return from the service, she stayed at home to raise their family.

Pete was a longtime member of the Cranker's Club and VFW Women's Auxiliary. She also volunteered countless times for the Lewiston Elk's Lodge and attended the Elk's food caravan to Boise. She loved to read, play cards, and above all, spend time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie; two sons and their wives, Lonny and Judy, and Lanny and Alice; seven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Josephine Henninger of Clarkston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Houck; and one brother, Bob Peterson.
