He was born Oct. 17, 1921, at Lewiston to M.T. and Maida A. Appleford Floch. He was raised in Anatone and graduated from Anatone High School in 1939. Following high school, he attended Washington State College (now Washington State University) at Pullman.
Floch also attended business college in Spokane and later returned to Anatone to farm with his dad and brother.
In 1956, Floch, his father, and his brother were named cattlemen of the year in Asotin County. In 1957 they were named conservation farmers of the year.
He married June M. Bucholz on Sept. 16, 1945, at Asotin.
Floch retired in 1979, and he and his wife moved to Clarkston.
He was a member of the North West Hereford Association, a life member of Lewiston Elks Lodge No. 896, a past member of the Anatone Grange, a past president of the Lewiston Grange Supply, a past president of the Asotin County Cattlemen's Association, a past member of the Asotin Soil Conservation District, a member of the Clarkston Moose Lodge, and a member of the Jawbone Sams Club.
He enjoyed traveling, monthly trips with the Jawbone Sams Club, riding his horse, working in his shop, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed taking trail rides with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife at their Clarkston home; a son, Douglas Floch of Walla Walla; a daughter, Barbara Henderson of Colfax; a brother, Kenneth Floch of Asotin; a sister, Gwyneth Weimer of Pomeroy; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Merchant
Burial will follow at Vineland Cemetery in Clarkston.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the Asotin County Historical Society, c/o Merchants Funeral Home, P.O. Box 107, Clarkston.
