She was the widow of Ingvald Aas, a longtime law enforcement officer in Asotin county and north-central Idaho. He died Oct. 13, 1977.
She taught school for 35 years near Deary, the first term in a log cabin with eight students. She retired in June of 1948 after teaching for 25 years at Walla Walla.
She and Aas were married Oct. 12, 1948, and their first home was at 1526 Libby, Clarkston.
She was born Jan. 17, 1894 at Lamberton, Minn., to Thorvald H. and Alena Rognstad. She came west with her family in 1902 to the Kendrick area. Her father bought a farm on Big Bear Ridge.
She later moved with the family to Conrad, Mont., to homestead.
She attended high school in Chateau, Mont., and Everett, Wash., and later graduated from the former Lewiston State Normal School. She attended summer sessions at Bellingham and Seattle during her teaching years.
She was a member of national, state, and local retired teacher's associations and Our Savior's Lutheran Church of Clarkston.
Two of her brothers were prominent in Lewiston Lewiston-Clarkston area affairs, Louie and Arthur, died in 1963.
Survivors include another brother, Clarence R. Rognstad, and two sisters, Amy M. Swanbeck and Gunda Fite, all of Clarkston.
