Joseph M. Bolognese, Sr., 71, of Middletown passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2008 in Manor Care, Elizabethtown surrounded by his family.

Born on May 11, 1937 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Josephine (Magaro) and Joseph A. Bolognese.

Joseph was a U.S. Navy veteran taking part in the Korean War and the Beirut Lebanon Crisis in 1958.

He retired from the Navy Ships Parts Control Center, Mechanicsburg.

Joseph was an active member of Seven Sorrows of The Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Middletown.

He was a member of Linglestown Legion Post 272, the Hershey Italian Lodge, a Life-time Member of BASS, a member of the Middletown Moose and Moose Legion Post 410, and was a 3rd Degree of the Knights of Columbus Council 869.

Joseph was an avid bass fisherman and hunter.

He was a local musician, a Past Baseball Coach at Lenker Manor and Lawnton Legion Post 998, and a Past Athletic Director and Football Coach at St. Catherine Laboure Parish.

In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by his first wife: Linda L. Rupp.

He is survived by his second wife: Ruth A. (Deimler) Bolognese; his daughter: Carla (Terry L.) Kennedy of Middletown; his son: Joseph (Tracy R.) Bolognese, Jr. of Chambers Hill; his step-daughters: Kathy (Benjamin) Hanft of Hummelstown and Susan (Randy) Wagner of Bainbridge; his eight grandchildren; his three great-grandchildren; and, his brothers: Kenneth Bolognese of San Fernando Valley, California and Lloyd S. Bolognese of Harrisburg.

A Viewing will be held from 06:00 - 08:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2008 in Neumyer Funeral Home, Incorporated, 1334 North Second Street, Harrisburg.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 01, 2008 in Seven Sorrows Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, Middletown with Rev. Louis P. Ogden officiating.

Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Monday, August 04, 2008 at 10:00 AM.
