Miss Grace Shaum, 20, daughter of Harvey Shaum of Brutus, Mich, died Sunday morning in Indianapolis City hospital. She was taken to the hospital five weeks ago. Her death was caused by a lung abscess and complications.
Born near Osceola on Nov 15, 1915, she had made her home for three years prior to 1934 with Mr and Mrs Dewey Lienhart in Wakarusa. She went to Indianapolis in 1934 and graduated from high school there in 1935. Her mother, Mrs Matilda Weiss Shaum, died August 2, 1924. She leaves the following brothers and sisters, in addition to her father: Mrs Mary Eby of Brutus, Mich, Joseph Shaum of Ohio, Lawrence Martin, George and Barbara Shaum, all of Indianapolis, John Shaum of Flint, Mich, Mrs. Nora Pfaltzgab of Lansing, Mich, and Wilma and Beatrice Shaum of Wakarusa.
The body was taken to Brutus, Mich, Tuesday noon and the funeral was held near Brutus, Wednesday. Grace was a lovely young lady and during her school life in Wakarusa, while living with Mr and Mrs Dewey Lienhart, she was a social favorite and everybody was her friend. Monday evening and up to Tuesday noon hundreds of relatives and friends visited the Lienhart funeral floral offerings as tokens of love and respect.
