Pauline E. Hegle Hunter Goetschy age 91 of Ithaca, Michigan passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at her home. She was a Registered Nurse who retired on March 8, 1974.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 26, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Ithaca United Methodist Church in Ithaca, Michigan. Rev. David McBride will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
Pauline was born April 22, 1912 in Ashley, Michigan, the daughter of George & Julia (Curry) Coon. She graduated from Ashley High School with the Class of 1929. She then attended Flint's Hurley Hospital of Nursing, earning her RN in 1933. On March 24, 1934 she married Clifford Charles Hegle in Anderson, Indiana. He passed away on February 10, 1965. She then married Harvey "Jack" Hunter on December 26, 1971 in Ithaca, Michigan. Jack passed away on January 23, 1982. On March 21, 1984 she married Oscar Goetschy in Las Vegas, Nevada. He passed away on May 31, 1986. Pauline started her nursing career as a private nurse, and she also worked at Smith Memorial Hospital. She then became a nurse for Dr. Bridge in Ithaca, and eventually she became a Public Health Nurse for Gratiot County. She retired from Nursing on March 8, 1974. Pauline was a member of the Ithaca United Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She was also a member of the Knitting Club, Gay Nighters Dance Club and the Ithaca Senior Center. Pauline resided most of her life in Ithaca, Michigan.
Survivors include her four children, Judith A. & Ted Bosley of Ithaca, Thomas C. & Cindy Hegle of Ballwin, Missouri, Ted G. & Judy Hegle of Ithaca, Jeanine A. & Howard Burgess of Lansing, three step children, John Hunter of Washington, Mary Ellen & Chuck McKinney of Washington, Don & Fran Hunter of Washington, 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren, six step grandchildren, 12 step great grandchildren and five step great great grandchildren, sister, Helen Lowry of Alma, brother, Jack & Purnie Coon of Ashley and sister, Madeline Lincoln of Alma. She was predeceased by her parents, three husbands, a son, Terry D. Hegle in 2000, and six brothers & sisters.
Memorials may be made to the Gratiot County Community Foundation Adult Literacy Fund or the American Heart Association. The family is being served by Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel.
