My Great Grandfather!
What a wonderful friend BAS to sponsor William's memorial! This means so much to me and I am delighted to have you sponsor his memorial, and William Stockham's family is proud too! Thank you so very much BAS!!

William Stockham was my great grandfather and born in 1863 to John Albert Stockham (1842-1883) and Sarah Elizabeth Johnson (1845-1925), in Linn County, Kansas. When William was two years old, the family moved to Newton County, Missouri, where other family members resided. In 1874, the family began their journey west in a wagon, on the Oregon Trail. Their wagon was among the last in a long train of wagons. When they reached Oregon, they settled in the areas of Paradise and Enterprise, in Wallowa County. William met Sarah Alice Evans in Wallowa County, and her family went to Idaho soon after. They married in Idaho in 1897. William and Sarah raised five children, on their homestead near Caldwell. William died there in 1913. There was a first son who lived to adulthood, but we do not know his name. Son Lyman said he was a year older and they kept in touch, but he Lyman died before we could ask about him.

More information later.
