Melvin Homer Feller March 19. 1918 -March 8.2007 Ora Winefred Feller November 20, 1914 - November 26.2006 Melvin was born on March 18,1918 in Greeley, CO. He was 88 when he was called home on March 8, 2007.

He longed to rejoin his wife Ora, who preceded him in death in November 2006. Melvin was raised on a wheat farm in Craig and attended school there. He cowboyed for various ranches in the Craig area until 1940. when he enlisted in the Army.

He was a paratrooper with the IOth Mountain Division, until he was wounded during action in the Philippines, and received a medical discharge in 1943. Upon returning home he committed himself to honoring and working with the Veterans of the past and future. He returned to the Grand Junction area and met the love of his life, Ora Richmond Cook. They married and spent 62 years together in the same home with their two sons. Art and Larry Cook.

Melvin and his brother started Feller Furniture and built custom furniture and boats. He then went to work at the VA Hospital until retiring.

After retirement, he continued to volunteer at the VA Hospital for over 23 years. Melvin was active for many years with the Disabled American Veterans and the Odd Fellows Lodge.

He and his wife loved to travel and spent many hours reliving their many journeys. His life was fulfilled by the love of his family, the outdoors and being able to help others.

Melvin is survived by his brother, Arnold (Helpa) Feller; sisters, Francis Wagner and Betty Rogers; sons. Arthur (Kay) Cook and larry (Ruth) Cook; grandchildren. Chandra (George) Mapes, Cara (Donald) Erickson, Crystal Dunn, Cheryl (Mike) Power, Melvin (Colecn) Cook, Kevin (Sharon) Cook, Larrisc (Andy) Bailey; 17 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m.. Monday, March 12, 2007 at Callahan-Kdfast Mortuary Chapel with pastor Jacob Krickson officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu ofllowcrs, memorial contributions may be made to: VA (Dept. Veterans Affairs) TCU Dept,, A H N: Chris Baugh, 2121 North Ave., Grand Junction, CO 81501. Melvin's family is so thankful for the loving care he received at the VA Hospital.
