The funeral at Erik Eastland who died at his home 3 miles northeast of Center City, Wednesday, July 28, was held from the Eastland home last Sunday afternoon Reverend F. Stromberg of Lindstrom officiating. An unusually large number of friends of the departed were present at the funeral, among them being a large number from Isanti county.

Mr. Eastland has virtually been ill since last December when gangrene set into one of his legs, the same having to be amputated and since the time Mr. Eastland has been continually failing in strength until then came Wednesday of last week.

Erik Eastlund was born in Hassela, Helsingland, Feb 3, 1847 and emigrated when 9 years old with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hans Erickson, to the US in 1856. The Erickson family settled in Chisago county at Little Lake (Lilla sjon), buying a quarter section of land from Anders Norelius who had previously settled there in 1854. Erik who changed his name to Eastland, has since resided on the old homestead and has been a successful farmer and was a highly respected neighbor and Citizen who is held in high esteem by all who knew him since 1891. Mr. Eastland has been a member of the Swedish ME church. The deceased attain an age of 68 years 5 months and 25 days ,leaving as his survivors three sons and two daughters: Frank Eastlund of Shafer, Henry, Theodore, Anna and Alice who all reside on the farm; also 1 brother, Peter Eastlund of Center City and Andrew Eastlund of Dresser Junction, Wisconsin and one sister, Mrs PO Peterson of Cambridge, MN.

The remains were interred at the Swedish ME Church in Center City.

The Press takes this occasion to express its respectful sympathy to the sorrow stricken family.
