Andrew John Dedon, 93-year-old retired farmer and civil war veteran died at his home in Lindstrom Monday, June 19, after an illness of several years duration. Mr. Dedon at the time of his death was 93 years, 4 mo, and 8 days old.

Born Feb 11, 1846 in Sweden, Mr. Dedon came to the United States in 1856 and settled in Turtle Lake, WI where he remained for several years, moving to Lindstrom and settling on a farm in the vicinity of the Dedon School. During the Civil War, he served with Company D of the 3rd infantry and saw action with the Minnesota troops who made a great name for themselves and a record for the State. Mr. Dedon retired from farming about 45 years ago and for 5 years operated a livery stable and dray barn in Lindstrom using the present site of Meline Bros. Garage. He retired from active business and took up a residence on a small piece of ground in the Village, where he maintained an excellent garden for a number of years.

In 1878 he joined in marriage to Caroline Strom, who died April 15, 1890. Two children were born of that union, Henry Dedon born October 25, 1878 and Louella Dedon born January 28, 1885, both of whom preceded Mr. Dedon, Henry in 1931 and Louella in 1925.

On Dec 26, 1893, Mr. Dedon was married to Wilhelmina Anderson who died January 19, 1925.

Mr. Dedon was a familiar figure about town and was quite spry and active in spite of his age until about a year ago when he became confined to his home and has been practically bedridden the last 6 months of his life. He was cared for by Mrs. Anna Peterson, sister of Mrs. Dedon and her son Henry Peterson, a nephew of Mr. Dedon.

Funeral services were conducted from the Grandstrand Funeral Home at Center City at 2:00 pm, Wednesday with Theodore Englund of Minneapolis, officiating, Mr. Alvin Westin of Minneapolis sang appropriate solos.

Six relatives of the deceased served as pallbearers, Arthur Stenberg and Axel Olson of Lindstrom, Adolph Miller of Robbinsdale, George Strand and Victor Caneday of Taylors Falls, and Glen McCormick of Minneapolis.

The deceased is survived by five grandchildren, Muriel Miler of Robbinsdale, Mrs. Clifford Corey of Cushing, WI, Marie Dedon of Los Angeles, CA, and Donald Dedon of Minneapolis, MN. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
