He was self employed at Robert K. Brooks and Son as a Painter and Stone Mason. He was a member of the Lancaster County Baseball Hall of Fame. He loved to bowl and play golf. He was also a member of Grace Evangelical Congregational Church. He served in the Army at the Battle of the Bulge during WWII. He received two Purple Hearts for being wounded two separate times.
Born in West Willow he was the son of the late Christian and Elsie Brooks.
He was married for 65 years to Martha J. Yohn Brooks.
Surviving besides his wife are two sons; Gary married to Cheryl Brooks of Mountville; Glenn Brooks of Lancaster; five grandchildren; Brian, Dean, Josh, Jon and Jodi Brooks; ten great grandchildren and a sister, Elsie Sauders of Lancaster.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kerry Brooks and fourteen brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at the Charles F. Snyder Jr. Funeral Home and Chapel, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz on Wednesday at 11:00am. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 10:00am until time of service. Interment in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in honor of his grandson, G. Kerry Brooks to Cornell Baseball, Teagle Hall Campus Road, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, 14853-6501.
