Margaret A. Claussen, 62, of Atkinson, Nebraska was killed in a car-truck collision on Thursday, January 14, 1965. The accident happened on State Highway 12, five miles west of Spencer.

Services Held Monday For Mrs. Claussen

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret A. Claussen, 62, of Atkinson, were held at 2 p.m Monday at the First United Presbyterian Church in Atkinson.

Mrs. Claussen, who lived all of her life in this community, was killed in an automobile accident four miles east of Butte Thursday afternoon, Jan 14. She was a passenger in a car driven by Mrs. Elizabeth Hegberg, 59, of Atkinson, when the vehicle veered to the left side of the road into the path of a truck. The right side of the car was smashed. The truck, owned by Central States Steel Co., was driven by Gary Gilley, 27, Council Bluffs, Iowa, who was not hurt. Mrs. Hegberg, formerly of Bristow, who also was injured in the crash, is in the hospital at Lynch, and is reported in good condition. Both Mrs. Claussen and Mrs. Hegberg were employed at the Good Samaritan Center in Atkinson.

Services for Mrs. Claussen were conducted by the Rev. Lynn Davis, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Davis was the vocal soloist and Mrs. Murray Mellor the organist. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. The pallbearers were Elmer McClurg, Glenn McClurg, Leo T Adams, Allan White, Frank Schaaf and Oliver Shane.

Margaret Alma Dierks was the daughter of Daniel and Christina Erb Dierks. She was born on a ranch southwest of Atkinson April 21, 1902. She grew up in this community and was graduated from Atkinson High School in 1920.

On January 7. 1921. she was married to Edward B. Claussen at Neligh. They lived on a farm near Atkinson for many years, then moved to town, where Mr. Claussen preceded her in death on June 22, 1950.

She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Mary Martha Circle of United Presbyterian Women, and the Royal Neighbors of America. Mrs. Claussen had been employed in several business places in Atkinson prior to joining the staff at the Good Samaritan Center.

She is survived by three sons, LaVerne Edward of Atkinson, Harold Gene of Waterloo. Iowa, and Kenneth Wayne of Atkinson; two daughters, Mrs. Ray (Lorraine) Oliver of North Highlands Calif , and Mrs. Rim (Regina) Conrad of Orange, Calif ; six grandchildren Mrs. Gary Lee of Tustin Calif , Edward Ethington of Chambers, Waunita Claussen of Atkinson, Debbie, Linda and Harold Claussen, Jr., of Waterloo, Iowa; one great granddaughter, Shelly Lee of Tustin, Calif ; two brothers, William and Henry Dierks of Atkinson, and one sister, Mrs. Anna Tooker of San Pedro, Calif.

Among the relatives who came to attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Billy Dierks from Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. William Claussen of O'Neill; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Montange, Kingslcy, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Leiding of O'Neill; Mr. and Mrs. John Leiding of Orchard; Mrs. Gene Thompson of Chambers; Mrs. Regina Conrad of Orange, Calif., and her daughter, Mrs. Gary Lee of Tustin, Calif.; Mrs. Lorraine Oliver, North Highlands, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ethington of Chambers; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Claussen and family of Waterloo, Iowa.hhw
