Lue was the daughter of John J & Sabina J (Blackburn) Shivley. She married George W Carter on 1 December 1897 in Clay County Arkansas. They had 9 children, Charlie E, Fleta B, Henry E, Eva, Sybil, Norma, Walter, Richard and Cora. Fleta, Walter, Richard and Cora all died as infants.
