He was the son of William Nelson Camp and Texanna Gay, born at Suffolk, Virginia he married Nettie Harrell about 1895 and they were the parents of six children according to the 1910 census, with four surviving. According to the notice of his death he died in the Asheville Hospital following a heart attack. He was head of the Camp Phosphate Co. at Ocala.
