CHERRYVILLE - Alaina Nicolle Abernathy 15, of 176 Cricket Creek Dr. died Sept. 7, 1996 at Lincoln Medical Center.

Funeral is 4 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. Burial is at City Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is this afternoon and evening at the residence.

She was a member of First Baptist Church. At Cherryville Junior High, she was a member of the Junior Heart Board, softball and volleyball teams and the school band. She was a member of the Environment Active in Cherryville Little Theater with several lead roles.

Survivors include her parents, Randy Abernathy and Kathy B. Tate of Cherryville; sister, Audra Faye Abernathy of Cherryville; paternal grandparents, Lee and Audry Kennedy Brinson of Hope Mill; and maternal grandparents, Albert and Fay Richie Abernathy of Hickory.

A memorial scholarship will be established at NationsBank of Cherryville.

Carpenter's Funeral Home is in charge.
