The entire Hurst clan immigrated to the far northwest corner of Alabama about the time William married (1) Ann Devaney in Franklin County March 14, 1839. William and Annie had 7 children:

Annie died in 1853, and William married (2) Minerva Gillinlain (?), who bore him two more children:

Minerva died in 1859 and William married (3) Elizabeth ______.
About 1868, two of William's sons came to Baxter County, Arkansas, and William followed a few years later, settling near his son Robert's home near Norfork on the White River, where he reportedly built one of the first cotton gins in the county.
About 1880, at age 63, he married 36 year old Mary B. "Molly" Howell in Franklin County, Alabama, and brought her back to Arkansas, where they began another family:

William died at age 85 in Baxter County, Arkansas, and was buried at the top of a mountain overlooking the White River.
