Shay Elyssa Fischer, 19, of Washington, IN, died at 1:36 a.m. Monday, June 2, at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis following a 14 month illness with leukemia.

Born May 25, 1989 in Aurora, IL, she was the daughter of Bryan and Shelley Lea (Jones) Fischer.

A member of Berea Mennonite Church, she had attended Washington schools and was a 2007 graduate of North Daviess High School.

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Shelley and Dave Crooks of Washington, IN; father and step-mother, Bryan and Alison Fischer of Oswego, IL; four brothers, Jacob Richards of Washington, Jared Crooks of Loogootee, and Jared and Justin Fischer of Oswego; one sister, Mackenzie Crooks of Loogootee; fiancé, Kyle Stoll of Odon; grandparents, Mark and Bonnie Jones of Washington, John Fischer of Aurora, IL, and Carol Hill of Somonauk, IL.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Shanna Renae Fischer.

The funeral will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, at Berea Mennonite Church, Cannelburg, IN, with Bro. Eddie Graber officiating. Burial will be in Berea Cemetery.

Visitation is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, and after 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 4 at the church.

Preferred memorials are to the Ronald McDonald House, National Children's Cancer Society, or Berea Mennonite Church.
