Homer H. and Lucy Ellen (Phinney) Case, the former born in New York in 1820 and the latter in Brandon, Vermont. Their marriage occurred in Chautauqua county, New York, where the father operated a farm until 1856, then he went to Illinois, removing from there to Bremer county, Iowa. Here he traded a team for eighty acres of fine prairie land in Warren township and upon this property followed agricultural pursuits until his death, which occurred in 1892. His wife survived him some years, passing away in 1907. To their union were born five children: Harriet Ellen, of this review; Daniel, part owner of the Case homestead; Julian, who is mentioned below and owns part of the home farm; Hudson, who owns an interest in the homestead; and Stella who died at the age of eight.

Harriet Ellen Case was was born in New York state, April 30, 1852
and reared in Bremer county and acquired her education in the district schools. Since the death of her father she and her brothers have owned the family homestead on section 8, Warren township, and this they have since successfully operated, engaging in general farming, dairying and stock-raising. The property comprises eighty acres of choice land and is well improved in every particular, reflecting everywhere the care and labor which the owners bestow upon it.

Daniel and Hudson Case give their political allegiance to the prohibition party and they and their sister are members of the Baptist church, Miss Case being active in sunday school work. Her many excellent qualities of mind and character make her widely and favorably known in Bremer county and her record is a credit to a name that has long been held in high honor and esteem in this community.

Julian W. Case was born in Bremer county, Iowa, July 21, 1859. He received a fair common-school education and also took a four year course at the State Teachers' College of Cedar Falls and spent one year at Hamilton College, New York. He married Lucy Lurenz, of Rockford, Iowa, and to them three children were born, Percival H., Florence M. and Harold M. Mr. Case entered the ministry of the Baptist denomination and held pastorates at Grand Junction, Iowa; LaCrosse, Wisconsin; Macomb, Illinois; Detroit, Michigan; Canastota, New York; Scranton, Pennsylvania; and Mumford, New York. He is at present working for the Anti-Saloon Leagues, with his home in Rochester, New York.
