Louisa married James Rankin Goodall on January 20,1953, she was 17 years old. James Goodall was born on July 26, 1828 to Joab Goodall and Nancy Palmer in Tennessee. James Goodall died a year and a half after he and Louisa were married on July 19, 1854. They had no children.
Louisa Martin Harrison and her brother, David Ruffin Harrison, were extremely close their entire lives, not just because they were siblings, but they had many financial ventures together. Having had to pull together with their mother after their father's early death also gave them an especially close bond. Louisa and her brother David also lived on adjoining properties in Herrin's Prairie and both continued to purchase land throughout the years, both of them becoming large landowners in Southern Illinois.
Louisa Martin Harrison Goodall married a second time to William Jasper Pope. They had four children:
1. Charles H. Pope born on May 30, 1861;
2. Mary Delilah Pope born in March 1863;
3. Benjamin A. Pope born on November 29, 1864; and
4. Sarah Emaline "Emma" Pope born on March 23, 1867
William Pope died in November of 1867 shortly after his last child, Emma was born.
Louisa Martin Harrison Pope married for a third time to John Grattan Williams on January 14, 1872. Louisa was now 36 years old. John & Louisa had two sons:
1. Walter W. Williams born January 18, 1873; and
2. David Dayton Williams born on October 4, 1874
John Grattan Williams was born on October 6, 1838 in Posey, Indiana. He had served in the civil war as a corporal in the Illinois Infantry. He died of pneumonia on December 16, 1876. Louisa Martin Williams was once again a widow.
Louisa maintained a strong family and was very successful in all her ventures. Louisa was the daughter of David Ruffin Harrison and the granddaughter of David Herrin. Both men were early Southern Illinois pioneers and she was a woman of determination and true to her inheritance from those sturdy pioneers. She remained in Herrin's Prairie the rest of her life and she passed away on April 13, 1905.
