A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22, at Smith Grove Baptist Church with pastor Chuck Peters officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery .
He was born September 23, 1932, in Guilford County, to the late Cleveland Clyde and Hannah Brookbank Allen. Mr. Allen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a veteran of the Army, and attended Smith Grove Baptist Church in Colfax.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Mary Elizabeth Swink Allen; a daughter, Nancy Allen Kelley and husband, Richard Kelley, Sr., of Kernersville; two grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Kallam and husband, Tim, of Stokesdale, and Paul Richard Kelley, Jr. of Kernersville; two great-grandchildren, James Mitchell Atkins and William Hunter Atkins; a sister, Barbara Joyner of Kernersville.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday, July 21, at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home in Kernersville.
